Hoppin’ brings self-serve beer on tap to Fort Worth's Foundry District
FrituWhaaa, a former ghost kitchen offering Dominican cuisine, has opened a permanent location in Roanoke, Texas. Owned by James and Rosa Brunder, the restaurant specializes in Cuban sandwiches and empanadas, alongside other Dominican dishes. The couple, originally from the Northeast, moved to Texas in 2023 and began cooking from home before transitioning to a ghost kitchen. Their success led them to open in The 206 food hall.
FrituWhaaa’s menu includes signature dishes such as Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, and patacones (fried plantain sandwiches). Other offerings include Chimi (a Dominican burger), Mangu Con Los 3 Glopes (mashed plantains with fried meats and eggs), and desserts like cheesecake and mousse. The Brunders aim to offer not just food, but a personal and nostalgic dining experience that connects customers to Dominican culture and memories.
